Myanmar: An interesting information event at the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce

Her Excellency Mrs. Yin Yin Myint, Ambassadress of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Germany, and Birgit Voelz at the Chamber of Commerce in Hamburg

On Tuesday, 21 July 2015, the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, together with the OAV (German Asia-Pacific Business Association) and the AHK/Myanmar (AHK = German Chamber of Commerce in a foreign country), had invited to an information event on the subject of “Growth Market Myanmar – Chances and challenges of an emerging economy”. On behalf of Team Trans Hamburg and Team Trans Logistics, Birgit Voelz attended this event – and met an „old acquaintance“ on this occasion: Dr. Monika Stärk, Delegate of the German Economy in Yangon, Myanmar. Already in summer 2013, Birgit and Detlef Voelz had met with Dr. Stärk for an initial get-together in Yangon. On this Tuesday afternoon in Hamburg, Mrs. Stärk conveyed a lively „Update on the economic perspectives of Myanmar“ in general and various projects and business matters in particular. The highly interesting afternoon was complemented with contributions from Lawyer Markus Schlüter speaking about topics such as law, taxes and start-ups.

The event was rounded off with speeches held by Corinna Nienstedt, MD of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, and Dieter Ernst, Member of the OAV (German Asia-Pacific Business Association), as well as Her Excellency Mrs. Yin Yin Myint, Ambassadress of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Berlin, Germany.

In November, Birgit and Detlef Voelz will travel to Myanmar once again, in order to further intensify the business connections and to witness first-hand the progress at the orphanage „Team for Children“ located near Yangon.
